09 Feb University of Edinburgh Library Green Roof
The roof space on top of the University of Edinburgh’s famous library, designed by Sir Basil Spence, has been earmarked for redevelopment in keeping with the university’s green agenda. This feasibility design envisages a state of the art solution, with solar-powered paving and rotating dyke seating evoking the pitch of the Salisbury crags on the horizon. The ecology of this roof space compliments the stunning panoramic views, and creates an inert stepping stone in the landscape between the anchors of Arthur’s seat and the Pentland hills.
